we build quality education together
FOUNDATION
/What and how
The Equitat.org Foundation works to reduce inequalities and improve education in Catalonia.
We generate rigorous knowledge about the main challenges facing education and promote projects and partnerships to expand educational and social opportunities. Because quality education is the most transformative tool for achieving a fair, prosperous and cohesive society.
We work in collaboration with schools, education professionals, experts, public authorities, and social and community organisations, connecting knowledge and action. With 57 years of experience, we act with complete freedom and political and economic independence.
MISSION
Research and action for the right to education
Equitat.org is a non-profit foundation created in 1969 with the aim of combating inequalities and promoting social transformation in Catalonia. We focus on educational inequalities and, in 2026, we are changing our name to explicitly champion equity.
We act freely and with full independence from public authorities, political parties, religious denominations, and economic interests. In keeping with the mandate of our founders, we do not shy away from any issue that may contribute to building a fairer and more democratic society.
Since 2009, at Equitat.org we have championed educational improvement as a lever for social progress. We believe that by building a truly inclusive and equitable education system, one that generates valuable and meaningful learning, we can help create a better society.
We work in four areas marked by major educational inequalities and analyse the state of education in Catalonia in order to create rigorous knowledge, new proposals, and consensus to improve the Catalan education system.
VISION
To do so, we promote reports and research and run programmes in collaboration with all stakeholders committed to education: university academic groups, education professionals, public authorities, activists, family associations, teachers, trade unions, social organisations, and volunteers.
