Joan Cuevas

Education

Degree in Political Science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and a Master’s in Public and Social Policy from Johns Hopkins University and Pompeu Fabra University (UPF).

Professional experience

My work has focused on the design, implementation and evaluation of education and social policies, the use of evidence and scientific knowledge in public policymaking, and strategic planning.

Throughout my career, I have held senior and project leadership roles across the public and non-profit sectors. These include Head of Projects at Equitat.org, Director General for Innovation, Digitalisation and Curriculum at the Catalan Department of Education, Project Director at the Pere Tarrés Foundation, and Government Coordinator at Sabadell City Council.

Selected projects

Over the years, I have contributed to the development and implementation of a number of major initiatives, including:

• The Catalonia Educational Research Plan, an eight-year strategy comprising 50 measures across four priority areas: access to data; evidence generation and research; the transfer of evidence into educational practice and policymaking; and evaluation.
• Educació 360 Municipal Policy Proposals.
• The 2030 Plan for the Renewal of the Education System.
• A programme for the ongoing monitoring of school segregation at both municipal and national level, developed at Equitat.org.
