This proposal,\u00a0inspired by different methodologies of international reference such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/national-tutoring-programme-guidance-for-schools-2022-to-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Tutoring Programme<\/a> (UK), <a href=\"https:\/\/join.readingandmath.org\/careers-home\">Americorps<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.gov\/news\/press-releases\/new-resource-details-evidence-based-strategies-address-impact-lost-instructional-time-using-american-rescue-plan-funding\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rescue Plan Funding<\/a> (USA), presents a\u00a0model of educational support that goes far beyond reinforcing the learning of\u00a0mathematics; it also seeks to overcome the negative feeling or perception that many<br \/>\nstudents develop.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What do we propose and why is a project like MATH TUTORING necessary?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>For many students, mathematics is perceived as a subject that generates fear and\u00a0respect. It is often during primary school that this feeling begins to develop and,\u00a0unfortunately, ends up affecting academic results.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>MATH TUTORING<\/strong> project has been created to overcome this fear and help\u00a0children to improve their learning in the area of mathematics. A proposal that\u00a0provides these children with <strong>the confidence, security and motivation they need\u00a0outside school hours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mathematics is a key skill in the intellectual development<\/strong> of people, it is part of our\u00a0daily lives. And not all children have the same opportunities throughout the learning\u00a0process. These facts, plus those described above, make it necessary to develop\u00a0educational support proposals such as MATH TUTORING, designed for those\u00a0children who need it most.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What methodology do we use and how do we implement it?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>MATH TUTORING<\/strong> has\u00a0been implemented for the first time in the academic year 2022-23. The intervention was aimed at pupils in the <strong>6th year of primary school<\/strong> and has involved 50 schools throughout Catalonia. In order to measure its effectiveness, this\u00a0proposal evaluate through a <strong>randomized impact assessment<\/strong>. In other words, the impact of the project is compared between those who benefit from it<br \/>\n(treatment group) and those who do not (control group).<\/p>\n<p>These are the key features of the project:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Trained tutors<\/strong>. Each group of students is assigned a tutor who has received\u00a0specific training in the didactics of mathematics according to the methodology of\u00a0the project.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Small groups<\/strong>. Each group is made up of 3 or 4 students from the same level and\u00a0school, so the sessions are personalised and last 1.5 hours per week.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Active teaching<\/strong>. The different concepts and mathematical skills are acquired while<br \/>\nexploring, manipulating and sharing with the group. Each session ends with a short<br \/>\ntime of individual practice, with the support of the tutor.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Technological support<\/strong>. A virtual platform helps tutors to see progress and adapt activities. This optimises impact and facilitates evaluation.
