{"id":152848,"date":"2026-04-14T11:39:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T09:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.equitat.org\/blog\/carta-abierta-fundacion-jaume-bofill-equitat-org"},"modified":"2026-04-14T17:16:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T15:16:12","slug":"open-letter-fundacio-jaume-bofill-equitat-org","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.equitat.org\/en\/blog\/open-letter-fundacio-jaume-bofill-equitat-org","title":{"rendered":"Open letter: From Fundaci\u00f3 Jaume Bofill to Equitat.org"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 data-start=\"143\" data-end=\"241\"><strong data-start=\"143\" data-end=\"241\">From Fundaci\u00f3 Bofill to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equitat.org\/en\/noticies\/bofill-foundation-changes-name-equitat-org-make-mission-explicit\">Equitat.org<\/a>: When the world trembles, we make our commitment explicit.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"243\" data-end=\"323\">If we have been working for equity for <strong data-start=\"282\" data-end=\"294\">57 years<\/strong>, why not put it in the name?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"325\" data-end=\"424\">That is why, from this Tuesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equitat.org\/en\/noticies\/bofill-foundation-changes-name-equitat-org-make-mission-explicit\">the Fundaci\u00f3 Jaume Bofill is now called <strong data-start=\"397\" data-end=\"423\">Equitat.org.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"426\" data-end=\"710\">It was the year 1969, in the midst of the Franco dictatorship, when Teresa Roca and Josep Maria Vilaseca created the Fundaci\u00f3 Jaume Bofill with one conviction: <strong data-start=\"586\" data-end=\"709\">a prosperous and democratic society is only possible if it guarantees educational and social opportunities for everyone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"712\" data-end=\"1033\">Since then, we have promoted new proposals with more than <strong data-start=\"770\" data-end=\"809\">2,800 research studies and projects<\/strong>. We have not done it alone, but thanks to the collaboration of thousands of people, organizations, and municipalities. Because we believe that <strong data-start=\"953\" data-end=\"1032\">the world improves when we build a demanding and constructive civil society<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1035\" data-end=\"1229\">Equity is not a luxury or an abstract desire. It is a <strong data-start=\"1089\" data-end=\"1114\">shared social project<\/strong> that must move forward, which is why we defend that <strong data-start=\"1167\" data-end=\"1228\">quality education for all is the best path towards equity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1231\" data-end=\"1565\">Universalizing and expanding access to education for children and young people from all social backgrounds has been one of the great achievements of recent decades. It is a milestone that has allowed each person\u2019s talent and effort to flourish, but it is also a <strong data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1564\">collective success that brings cohesion and prosperity to all of us<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1567\" data-end=\"1783\">But guaranteeing the right to education is still an unfinished goal today: we need to <strong data-start=\"1653\" data-end=\"1782\">reduce school dropout, segregation, improve low levels of reading and learning, and strengthen family and community education<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1785\" data-end=\"1941\">Today, when equity is more questioned and more necessary than ever, the Fundaci\u00f3 Bofill <strong data-start=\"1873\" data-end=\"1940\">reclaims its mission by placing it in the new name: Equitat.org<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1943\" data-end=\"2203\">A new name to make our commitment to <strong data-start=\"1980\" data-end=\"2048\">building quality education and ensuring real equal opportunities<\/strong> more explicit. In times of hatred and inequality, committing to equity and educational quality is <strong data-start=\"2147\" data-end=\"2202\">clearly defending the kind of society we want to be<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2205\" data-end=\"2434\">We place ourselves at your service to build new alliances.
